Exova Warringtonfire, the leading fire safety testing and consultancy provider, has delivered fire engineering solutions for the Pinnacle Apartments development and the Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute currently being developed in Perth, Western Australia.

For both projects, Exova Warringtonfire worked in partnership at the design stage with architects and developers to provide fire safety solutions. Recommendations included vertically dividing the Pinnacle Apartments building into two sections, and treating each section separately, which minimised sprinkler requirements in some areas of the building. The Sarich Neuroscience building's four-storey atrium incorporated a horizontal fire curtain, together with additional smoke separation measures throughout, allowing the building to be constructed without the need for automatic sprinkler protection.

Peter Downer, director of Exova Warringtonfire in Australia, commented: "These projects demonstrate how our innovative and technically demanding solutions can help our customers to push boundaries and deliver more flexibility in their buildings' designs. Through working in close partnership we can deliver solutions that not only meet all regulatory requirements, but do so in the most cost-effective way possible."
