Scientists from Exova, the global testing group, have been recognised as leading experts in their fields after qualifying as expert witnesses.

Iltaf Hussain, Edward Ingham and David Christie-Lowe, based in Exova’s Salford lab, have more than 75 years’ experience between them.

Dr Hussain is Exova’s engineering consultancy services manager and an expert in metallurgy and corrosion. Drs Ingham and Lowe, both technical managers, specialise in polymers for the utilities and gas industry.

The trio have qualified as expert witnesses after proving their experience in carrying out investigations, and undergoing formal training including five different courses.

Now they can advise customers and other professionals including solicitors, loss adjustors and insurers, preparing expert reports on specialised topics which can be used to form crucial, independent evidence as part of court cases.

Dr Iltaf Hussain said: “These accreditations demonstrate that there is much more to Exova than the physical testing of materials, products and systems.

“Exova has invested in training to develop the capabilities of its experts, including an understanding of the legal process. Standard reports can take on a heightened importance and can literally make the difference between protecting the innocent or confirming the guilty.

“Becoming an expert witness is confirmation that Exova’s customers can access expert advice which can protect their business and its reputation on a range of technical issues.”
