Exova, the global testing, calibration and advisory services provider, has signed a framework agreement with steel plate manufacturer Liberty Steel Dalzell, part of Liberty Steel Group, to deliver bespoke testing over the next two years.

This new relationship sees Exova provide a range of mechanical tests, including tensile testing and impacts testing, as well as chemical analysis in Exova’s laboratories in Edinburgh and Teesside. The work being undertaken as part of this agreement is performed according to the specialist requirements of Liberty Steel Dalzell.

Murray Gilder, Sector Director, Oil & Gas and Industrials at Exova, said: “We’re excited to start this new partnership with Liberty. This framework agreement underlines our track record in the provision of technically demanding services, which help our customers meet their stringent delivery schedules by providing a fast turnaround of results.”

Simeon Tulip, Technical Manager from Liberty Steel added: “The hot rolled plate products from our facility are tested by Exova to give us independent test results from an EN ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. This external testing and scrutiny of our products shows our customers that we meet their desired properties and requirements every time, verified by Exova.

“This fully audited and proven route shows we have a rigid traceable testing method with defined turnaround times. It also means we have access to test facilities and capabilities exceeding most other steel suppliers, with complementary expertise available as well.”

Liberty Steel Dalzell is part of Liberty Steel Group which is focused on the production and distribution of a wide range of steel products, including hot rolled coil, structural hollow sections, steel tube, specialist steel plates, spiral welded tube, rebar, wire rod and long steel products.
