MOSE Dam Project
Large-scale testing of materials used in infrastructure projects relating to the construction of the flood protection systems in Venice, vital in protecting the city from continually rising water levels and soil erosion.
Exova's Padova laboratory conducted over 150,000 tests for the MOSE project over a nine year period, including civil engineering materials characterisation tests, concrete mix qualifications, special steel qualification (including hinges and rings used for system mechanical fulcrums), non-destructive testing on cassons and basements of mobile bulkheads, and standard tests on concrete and carpentry steel, both in situ and in a laboratory environment.
The MOSE project is scheduled to start in 2014-2015, and will safeguard the future of Venice City.
