Senior food testing role makes Paul hungry for success

Global testing group Exova has appointed Paul Morris as Operations Manager at its flagship testing laboratory in Grimsby.

Paul will lead a 90-strong team with a remit to grow Exova Grimsby, the group’s largest food testing facility, based at the centre of the country’s food production cluster in North East Lincolnshire.

Paul joins Exova from the Environmental Division of SGS in Perth, Western Australia, where he was business manager.

Previously, he spent five years as general manager at WSP Environmental Laboratories in Nottingham, and a similar period as a business specialist for the Environmental Water and Ecotoxicology division of Severn Trent Laboratories.

With a background in environmental chemistry, Paul holds a BSc degree, PG Diploma in Management, and MBA.

The Exova Grimsby laboratory boasts one of the most advanced food testing operations in Europe and has undergone extensive ‘lean’ re-engineering in the last 18 months, with investment in excess of £1m.

It can process more than 10,000 samples per week, and operates a full production unit 16 hours a day, seven days a week.

Commenting on his new role, Paul said: “This is an exciting time to be joining Exova. Our food testing services support customers in markets that are real touch-points for consumers. With these markets facing ever-increasing scrutiny and regulation, we are well placed to respond to the increasing demand for assurances on the safety and performance of products.”
