Exova Metech expands at the double

Exova Metech, the calibration division of the world’s leading independent testing group, has acquired Teknologisk Lab, a Swedish specialist in consulting, training, laboratory services and certification.

The acquisition means Exova Metech has further expanded its capabilities in areas including electrical calibration of DC/LF and RF/microwave, as well as calibration of fibre optic equipment, torque, pressure and temperature.

Exova Metech, also headquartered in Sweden, is the leading third party calibration, test and measurement provider in Europe.

The business employs more than 300 staff at 18 locations including Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway serving customers in sectors including aerospace, defence, transport and energy. It is part of Exova, a global business headquartered in Edinburgh.

Its acquisition of Teknologisk Lab, based at Stockholm Arlanda airport, from Teknologisk Institutt strengthens Exova’s position as the leading European calibration provider.

The acquisition comes shortly after Exova Metech acquired calibration facilities from Coor Service Management in Uppsala, Sweden. These facilities expanded Exova Metech’s reputation in the life science sector including pharmaceuticals and calibration of medical lab equipment.

Hans Åberg, managing director of Exova Metech, said: “These recent acquisitions are both strategically important for Exova Metech and will complement our service in the region while allowing for expansion in key sectors.

“The acquisition of Teknologisk Lab and Coor’s Uppsala facility will broaden our capabilities, expertise and business portfolio and allow us to take advantage of the experience and expertise available in the labs in the calibration and measurement field along with the life sciences industry.”

Recently Exova Metech revealed it had signed a contract with ABB Finland, a global leader of power and automation technologies. Exova will establish a new calibration facility in Vaasa, Finland, providing metrological services, calibration and maintenance of measuring tools that are part of ABB’s production.
