Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), also known as size exclusion chromatography (SEC), is used to determine the molecular weight (MW) properties of polymers. High temperature GPC is needed to analyse polymers such as polyolefins (PE, PP) or PEEK.

Typical applications of gel permeation chromatography/size exclusion chromatography include:

  • MW and MW distribution (MWD) of polymers
  • Assessment of polymer degradation due to changes in MW properties
