Exova’s compressive testing is normally carried out on rectangular or cylindrical specimens. We place the specimen between the platens of a universal testing machine and compress at a constant rate. The force on the specimen and its displacement is monitored continuously and is used to derive a stress-strain plot from which data such as compressive strength (maximum compressive stress carried by the specimen) and the compressive modulus (the slope of the initial linear region of the stress-strain curve) can be calculated.
