Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements

Thickness of engineered materials can be determined through the use of instruments that measure time of flight of an ultrasonic pulse through the test piece and multiplies this time by the velocity of sound in the material.  Ultrasonic thickness measurements errors are minimized by ensuring that the sound velocity to which the instrument is calibrated is the same sound velocity of the material tested.

Equipment will perform critical ultrasonic thickness measurements on both, ferrious and non-ferrious materials as well as a range of plastics and advanced composite materials.

Ultrasonic thickness measurements can be used on materials at both, ambient and elevated temperatures can be measured.  Special application transducers will allow ultrasonic thickness measurements of curved surfaces and determination of corrosion pitting depth.

Recorded data is stored and can be downloaded to any computer for data management and display.
