Many of Exova’s clients operate in or around the international oil and gas business, as suppliers, fabricators, pipeline installation contractors and support businesses. In recent years the laboratory has diversified into non-oil and gas businesses. The Edinburgh laboratory specialises in CTOD testing, failure analysis and positive materials identification. •   Large scale pipe reeling test rig •   100 ton tensile frame for cyclic straining •   SEM and EDAX facility •   Chemical Analysis •   Metallurgical Failure Analysis •   Corrosion Testing •   Mechanical Testing •   Metallographic Services •   Metallurgical Consulting Service Overview Approximately 25 employees now operate a two shift system allowing a fast, accurate turnaround of test pieces to suit the ever increasing demands of today's market place. The Edinburgh site holds accreditation for a wide range of tests including:
In the chemical and corrosion test departments, Exova Edinburgh offers the following: OES & combustion methods for carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steels, copper alloys, aluminium and aluminium silicon alloys, nickel alloys and irons, tungsten tool steels and tin solders in aqueous/acidified or organic solutions. The lab also performs nitrogen analysis. Corrosion tests include pitting tests to ASTM G48 Method A, inter-granular tests to ASTM A262 practice A, B, C & E and ASTM G28. Metallurgical tests include macro-examination, micro-examination, crack measurement, grain size, inclusion content and volume fraction by point count. Exova Edinburgh's non-UKAS tests include full scale pipe reeling, cyclic straining, metallurgical failure analysis, considerable investment in state of the art scanning electron microscopy and EDX analysis, on-site positive materials identification, on-site replication and metallography, on-site hardness testing as well as a materials, materials selection and welding consultancy. |
