While in Europe the implementation of the European Directive 1999/31/EC (The Landfill Directive) and in the UK referred to as BSEN 12457, introduced new waste classifications and waste disposal. Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) testing allows waste to be classified as either Inert, Non-hazardous and Hazardous.
