Found innovative technological solutions for the client
Scope
Air quality monitoring was required at 8 separate sites and two separate approaches were adopted:
At 5 of the sites, Exova supplied and operated continuous Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS). These units comprise a bank of rack-mounted analysers for SO2, NOX, O3, H2S and Methane/Non-Methane Hydrocarbons, a meteorological monitoring station and a logging computer, all mounted in either trailers or cabins. The AQMSs are fitted with a modem connection and software to enable data download and analyser control remotely. Exova were responsible for the maintenance, calibration and daily operation of the AQMSs.
At 6 of the sites, Exova performed passive air quality monitoring using diffusion tubes. Tubes to sample SO2, NOX, O3, H2S and VOCs were deployed on a monthly basis for a 12 month period at each of the 6 sites. Exova were responsible for deployment and retrieval of the tubes and their subsequent analysis.
For all of the monitoring, Exova were responsible for reporting of results on a monthly basis, including the analysis of AQMS data to produce ‘pollution roses’ for each parameter.
Benefits
Exova operated the AQMSs to the highest international quality standards which demonstrated the clients’ commitment to meet these most stringent standards and provided our client with additional confidence in the data generated.
In addition, Exova successfully demonstrated that the long-term operation of AQMSs without access to services and the in the harshest desert conditions is possible thereby demonstrating our ability to find innovative technical solutions to overcome difficult practical problems.
