FIRAS - Structural steel protected with
spray applied cementitious coating
FIRAS is a certification scheme for companies installing fire protection products and systems. If fire protection systems are not suitable for the application or are not installed properly, they may fail in the event of a fire possibly leading to fire spread, premature collapse of the building and loss of life.
No matter how good a product is, if it is poorly installed, its fire protection performance can be severely reduced.
The FIRAS scheme involves assessment of the installer company, competence assessment of its site workforce and regular, random inspection of actual contracts.
Training designed to meet some aspects of FIRAS competency assessment requirements is also available.
Fire Product Installer Certification (FIRAS)
FIRAS Schemes, although operated independently of Industry by Warrington Certification Ltd, are developed in conjunction with industry through representative trade associations in each sector.
Coupled with our technical expertise and experience, the schemes address the needs of the installer as well as those of the specifier, main contractor, enforcement authority and owner or occupier.
This service is offered at our UK labororatory within Warrington Certification Limited.
