As a site-manufacture product, the application of spray-appiled polyurethane foam does not benefit from the isolated and controlled environment of a manufacturing plant and the rigorous quality checks that many products undergo before making it to their end use. It is therefore vital for the performance of spray polyurethane foam to be assessed in the field.

In order to be applied in the field, the material itself must indergo testing in the lab. Exova is well equipped and experienced in assessing the compliance of any Spray Polyurethane Foam system to North American standards referenced by Canadian and American Building Codes, or for listing by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CMMC), to verifiy that the manufacturer is producing a quality product.

The next step of the Field Quality Assurance Program is to ensure that the application of that foam is producing a product that will peform as expected. There are many key factors that affect the quality of an applied Spray Polyurethane Foam product:

• Site Conditions (wind, temperature, etc);
• Substrates (dirt/grease, too hot/cold);
• Applicator knowledge and experience;

• Chemical handling and storage.
