Exova Anaheim has separate labs for Mechanical Testing, Fatigue Testing, Environmental Testing, Chemical Testing (FTIR, Spectroscopy ICP, GC/MS, HPLC), Thermal Testing, Metallographic Testing, and more. |
OCM Test Laboratories, a new exova company, has been in business since 1976 servicing government and commercial industries in the testing of materials. The laboratory is housed in a free standing 14,500 square foot building. The internal layout was designed and constructed to in order to equip and provide the utilities required to facilitate efficient testing.
Exova Anaheim has separate labs for Mechanical (Static) Testing, Dynamic (Fatigue) Testing, Environmental Testing - (Temperature - Hot/Cold, Temperature and humidity, weather meter - QUV, Carbon Arc, Xenon Arc, Thermal Cycling, Thermal Shock, etc.), Chemical Testing- FTIR, Spectroscopy (AA, UV, VIS) ICP, GC/MS, HPLC, Thermal Testing (DMA, TMA, DSC, TGA, CTE), Metallographic Testing (Mounting, Polishing, Optical Microscopy, Digital Imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy, EDX, X-Ray Fluorescence, Microhardness, Rockwell Hardness), Specimens Preparation (Machine Shop) and a Standards and Calibration Lab. Hydraulic pumps are housed in an outside building to provide a machinery room away from testing areas to eliminate any possible temperature or vibration that may interfere with any on-going test. The testing areas are fully air conditioned to ensure testing integrity. Several Labs have precise temperature and humidity controls to within +/- 2°F and 3%RH. OCMTL specializes in testing non-metallic materials such as Composites, Thermoplastics, Elastomers, Rubber, Acrylics (PVHO) & Adhesives. Testing includes Mechanical - static & fatigue, Physical, Environmental - Thermal Oxidative Stability - TOS, Outgas Properties per ASTM E 595, Bulk Outgassing of finished assemblies & Accelerated Ultraviolet Exposures per ASTM G152, G153, G154 & G156. Specimen preparation, strain gage instrumentation, and high speed strain collection capability. Chemical testing includes HPLC, GPC, FTIR, UV, AA, CIE Tristimulus Colorimetry; Acid Digestion and Ignition Loss for determination Fiber Volume, Resin Content and Void Volumes of composite materials. Thermal testing includes Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimeter (MDSC), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Thermal Mechanical Analysis (TMA), and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Thermal Conductivity, Heat Capacity, Coefficient of Thermal Expansion and Flammability Testing. Environmental tests include Thermal Cycling, Thermal Shock, Temperature and Humidity exposure, Salt Spray, Environmental/Reliability testing, Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), Accelerated Aging (AA), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and Burn-In and Engineering Design Validation Testing. Exova Anaheim also has the ability to construct special fixture design and testing, qualification and component testing. Approvals are from most of the major airframe companies and leading aerospace companies including the FAA. In addition to failure analysis, expert witness testimony, polymer analysis and composite characterization and stress analysis/design, the lab is equipped to provide “on-site consultation” in areas such as process/product development, process improvement, and trouble shooting. |
